Contest rules

These rules apply to the Gap Dash Monthly Leaderboard contest ("the Contest"), run by the operator of Gap Dash ("we", "us"). By taking part you agree to them.

1. Who can enter

• The Contest is open to people aged 18 or older, anywhere in the world where this kind of skill contest is allowed.
• You need a free Gap Dash account. One account per person; entering with more than one account leads to disqualification.
• The Contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law.

2. How it works

• Each contest period is one calendar month, starting at 00:00 and ending at 23:59:59 on the last day of the month, Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
• While you're signed in, every game you play is a ranked run. Your best verified score in the month is your leaderboard score.
• The Contest is free. No purchase or payment is needed to enter or win, and paying for anything wouldn't improve your chances.
• The winner is decided purely by skill: the highest verified score. There is no random draw.

3. Verification and fair play

• Every ranked run is recorded and replayed on our server, which calculates the official score. Scores that can't be verified aren't counted.
• Before awarding a prize, we review the top runs. Using bots, scripts, modified game files, exploits, or anyone else playing on your behalf is cheating.
• We may disqualify any entry we reasonably believe breaks these rules. Our decision is final.

4. Prize

• The prize for each month is a $25 digital gift card, awarded to the player with the highest verified score.
• Minimum players: a month's prize is only awarded if at least 50 different eligible players set a verified score of 1 or more during that month. Disqualified players don't count. If fewer players take part, no prize is awarded for that month and the leaderboard is just for bragging rights. The live player count is shown on the leaderboard page.
• If two players have the same top score, the one who reached it first wins.
• The prize can't be exchanged for cash, and we may substitute a prize of equal or greater value if it becomes unavailable.
• Winners are responsible for any taxes that apply to them.

5. Claiming the prize

• We'll contact the winner at their account email address within 7 days after the month ends.
• To claim, the winner must reply within 14 days and may be asked to confirm their age and eligibility. If they don't, or aren't eligible, the prize goes to the next eligible player.
• Email sign-ups must have confirmed their email address to receive a prize.

6. Your information

Your leaderboard name and score are shown publicly. Choose a name that doesn't reveal personal details. We use your email only to run your account and contact you if you win. See our privacy policy.

7. Changes

We may change, pause or cancel the Contest if something outside our control affects it, such as technical problems or widespread cheating. Changes won't affect a month that has already ended. We'll note significant changes in our patch notes.
